Rapid urban expansion demands a transition toward energy-efficient development practices across multiple spatial scales. Addressing urban sustainability requires expanding the focus beyond individual energy-conscious buildings to encompass broader municipal, district, and city-scale energy dynamics. This Executive Development Programme (EDP) provides urban practitioners, planners, and architects with an integrated framework for embedding energy efficiency across the built environment spectrum-from site-level design to city-wide spatial networks.

The course delves into methodologies for optimizing energy performance, integrating clean energy systems, and lowering operational carbon footprints across urban infrastructure. By equipping stakeholders with strategies to align building-level efficiency measures with urban policy and municipal infrastructure design, this training supports local urban bodies in fostering resilient, resource-efficient, and sustainable urban growth.

Training
Benefits

By the end of the training programme, participants will be able to:

  • Comprehend the core principles of energy efficiency scaled from individual architectural units to broad urban networks.
  • Evaluate and implement energy-conscious design strategies, passive building techniques, and sustainable technology integrations in urban contexts.
  • Assess carbon dynamics and energy consumption patterns across microclimates and municipal operational frameworks.
  • Formulate urban planning interventions and policy guidelines that promote long-term resource optimization and city-wide sustainability.
  • Strengthen municipal capacity for monitoring, benchmarking, and executing energy-efficient urban development projects.
